SILHOUETTE / CAPABILITIES

What Silhouette can do.

Silhouette, by Solace Systems, is an assistant that runs on your own Android phone and operates the apps already installed there. You make a plain-language request. It works out what is needed, uses the apps you already have and are signed in to, and reports back.

01 / HOW A REQUEST IS HANDLEDCLARIFY → PLAN → ACT → CONFIRM

How a request is handled

01 / 04

Clarify.

If two readings of a request would lead to different work, it asks one short question with concrete options. Anything it can discover from the phone, it looks up instead of asking.

Nothing is sent, paid, booked, posted or deleted without your approval.

02 / CAPABILITIES BY AREAWHAT IT OPERATES

Capabilities by area

What it can do depends on the apps installed and the permissions you grant. Named apps are examples of installed apps it can operate; no partnership or endorsement is implied.

01 / AREA

Communication

  • Email: read, search and summarise mail, and draft replies, in your chosen email app. Sending is held for your explicit approval.
  • Messaging: read and reply in WhatsApp and similar chat apps, and send SMS. The recipient and exact text are confirmed first.
  • Calls: place calls after confirmation, and read the call log, including missed calls.
  • Contacts: search the address book; create, update and delete contacts; find which messaging apps a person uses.
  • Notifications: list notifications, reply from a notification without opening the app, and dismiss them.
02 / AREA

Calendar and reminders

  • Read, create, move, rename and delete calendar events, with location, notes and reminder lead time.
  • Set alarms, including repeating ones, and countdown timers.
  • Send timed reminder notifications.
  • Add to-dos to the phone’s task app.
  • Read the day’s agenda, including events already past.
03 / AREA

Travel

  • Flights: build live searches for a route and dates and compare across booking sites. Fares are quoted only when read from a real source.
  • Stays: find hotels, guesthouses and hostels near a place, with address, contact details and booking links.
  • Rides and transport: look up options in the installed ride and transport apps.
  • Maps and directions: look up addresses, search nearby places with ratings and opening status, open a place and start navigation.
  • Location awareness: know where the phone is, which saved place that is, and where you have been during the day.
04 / AREA

Shopping and food

  • Search and compare in the installed shopping and food-delivery apps.
  • Find restaurants and shops nearby, check hours and ratings, and shortlist options.
  • Build a basket or order up to the point of payment. Payment is your decision.
05 / AREA

Finance and payments

  • Read balances, transactions and statuses in the installed banking and finance apps.
  • Prepare a payment or transfer on screen. It stops before confirming and asks first.
  • Passwords, PINs, card numbers and one-time codes are never typed by Silhouette. It hands the screen to you for those and carries on afterwards.

During the closed beta, don’t use Silhouette for purchases, banking or anything you can’t undo. See Beta participation.

06 / AREA

Work and social

  • LinkedIn: review profile and post analytics, draft posts, and publish only after your explicit approval.
  • Documents: create and edit text, Markdown, CSV, Excel, Word, PDF and HTML files.
  • Spreadsheets and office apps: read and edit sheets, documents and slide decks.
  • Jira and GitHub: read and navigate issues, repositories and pull requests in the installed apps.
  • Web research: search the web, read pages, and name the source of each fact.
07 / AREA

Media and files

  • Find photos by what is in them, and read the text in screenshots and images.
  • List, read, write, copy, move and delete files. Deleted files go to a recoverable bin.
  • Download files from public https addresses, and share files into other apps.
  • Transcribe and read audio and voice notes saved on the phone.
08 / AREA

Notes

  • Create and edit notes in the installed notes app, including long structured documents.
  • Save research results, drafts and lists for later copy and paste.
09 / AREA

Smart home and device settings

  • Control smart-home apps already installed on the phone.
  • Read battery, charge state and storage.
  • Adjust device settings by operating the Settings app: volume, brightness, connectivity and similar.
  • Read and set the clipboard, and open any installed app or link.
03 / FOR DEVELOPERS AND TECHNICAL BUYERSHOW IT IS BUILT

For developers and technical buyers

01 / BUILD

Structured plans

  • A request becomes a structured plan. Each step records the app to use, alternative apps if the first fails, the step kind (for example read, draft, navigate, send or pay), and the place or target involved.
  • Each plan carries explicit completion conditions. A task cannot end while a condition is open, so a half-answered request is not reported as finished.
  • Steps that affect other people or spend money are marked as needing approval.
PartContents
GoalThe conditions that define “done”, each closed with evidence.
StepsOrdered, each with app, alternatives, step kind and place.
ResultThe outcome first, then short supporting detail and its source.
02 / BUILD

No new integrations

  • Silhouette drives the apps already on the phone. It reads each screen as labels plus a picture, then taps, types, scrolls and waits as a person would.
  • Where a direct phone function exists (SMS, calendar, contacts, alarms, files, location, notifications), it uses that instead of the screen: faster and more reliable.
  • There is no per-app connector to build or maintain. Your existing sign-ins are reused.
  • Learned procedures: a screen task that worked can be saved as a reusable automation with placeholders and replayed in one call. If an app changes, the procedure stops at the first step that no longer matches, reports where it stopped, and can then be repaired.
03 / BUILD

Memory and preferences

  • Durable facts and preferences are stored: names, relationships, default apps, working habits and standing rules. You can ask it to forget a fact.
  • Stored preferences apply automatically; a correction overwrites the earlier fact.
  • Long-term goals are tracked with a measurable metric and a freedom level, from ask-first up to act-quietly. Only you can raise it.
04 / BUILD

Scheduled and routine tasks

  • Schedules run a stored instruction once, daily or at an interval, for example a morning briefing.
  • Triggers run when something happens: a message or notification arrives, the phone is charged, or you arrive at or leave a place. They are scoped by sender, app, text and time window, with cooldowns and daily caps.
  • Unattended runs are limited to actions you approved in advance for that task.
05 / BUILD

Developer notes

  • The agent loop, tools and safety checks run on the phone. Model requests leave it: see What leaves your phone.
  • Optional Linux tooling and coding agents are available for programming tasks.
  • Apps you mark off-limits are never opened, read or acted in.
04 / SAFEGUARDS AND LIMITSWHAT IT WON’T DO

Safeguards and limits

01 / BOUNDARY

Ask first

  • Before anything is sent, paid, booked, posted or deleted, Silhouette states exactly what will happen and to whom, then waits for a clear yes.
  • Messages are confirmed with the recipient and the full text. Calls are confirmed before dialling.
  • Questions come as a short list of concrete options with a recommended choice.
02 / BOUNDARY

Respecting your preferences

  • Saved rules are followed. Examples: approval before any post is published; no emails sent unless you explicitly say so. Drafting and reading are always allowed.
  • Goals set to “asks first” propose next steps for approval instead of acting.
03 / BOUNDARY

Staying in scope

  • It never acts beyond the approved request.
  • Reading is not destructive, so it reads freely. Writing, sending and deleting wait for approval.
  • You can stop it or change the plan at any point.
  • Credentials, card details and one-time codes are always entered by you.
  • Apps you block are never touched.
04 / BOUNDARY

Limits

  • It depends on the apps installed and the permissions granted. If an app or permission is missing, it says so and offers alternatives.
  • It cannot book or pay without approval.
  • It reads only what is on screen or exposed by the phone. Data held only on a provider’s server is out of reach.
  • Apps change. A layout update can break a saved procedure, and Silhouette reports where it stopped rather than guessing.
  • Unattended tasks cannot do anything you did not approve beforehand.
  • Prices, hours and availability are reported only as read from a source, and the source is named.
  • It can misread screens or tap the wrong thing. Review important outcomes yourself.
05 / FOR INVESTORS AND PARTNERSWHY IT MATTERS

For investors and partners

01 / SUMMARY

Value proposition

  • An assistant that does the work inside the apps people already use, instead of a chatbot that only talks about it.
  • No migration, no new accounts and no connector marketplace. It works with the person’s own apps and data from the start.
02 / SUMMARY

Use cases

  • Executive and founder admin: inbox triage, scheduling, follow-ups and daily briefings.
  • Travel planning: flights, stays and routes, compared and shortlisted.
  • Professional presence: drafting and scheduling social posts, and tracking their analytics.
  • Everyday life: reminders, shopping, food, files and device settings by plain request.
03 / SUMMARY

Trust model

  • Ask first on anything outward-facing or irreversible.
  • Standing preferences and per-goal freedom levels that only the person can loosen.
  • Credentials are never handled by the assistant.
  • Owner-blocked apps are off-limits.
  • Every claim of completion is tied to evidence.
04 / SUMMARY

Differentiators

  • Works through existing apps, so it covers the long tail of apps that have no API.
  • Mixes direct phone functions with screen operation and picks the more reliable route.
  • Persistent memory, learned procedures and event-driven automation.
  • A privacy-first posture: website analytics is optional and advertising trackers are not enabled.
